The prolific old-school country artist Charley Crockett already has 15 studio albums to his name, and he’s about to add one more to that total. Less than a year ago, Crockett released Dollar A Day, the second LP in his Shooter Jennings-produced Sagebrush Trilogy. This spring, he’ll finish out that trilogy with the release of a 20-track opus called Age Of The Ram. On his Substack, Crockett has written a whole explainer about the concept behind this LP:

This record follows Billy McLane, a field hand out of West Texas, raised up in cotton rows and hard weather. He heads north chasing cattle and horses, thinking honest work might buy him a little peace. Colorado turns to Montana, and somewhere between driving cattle and counting somebody else’s money, he crosses a line he can’t uncross.

You can check out Crockett’s whole Substack explainer here. Crockett is heading out on tour this spring, and he’s been tapped to headline a few decent-sized festivals. But it looks like Crockett’s going to have to rework the routing on that upcoming tour, since he can’t get into Canada.

The Canadian stretch of Charley Crockett’s tour was supposed to kick off next week in Vancouver, and he was planning to play all across the country. But it appears that Canada has denied Crockett entry twice because of a 2014 felony conviction for marijuana possession. On Instagram, Crockett has posted an image of the paperwork denying his entry. There’s no caption on the photo right now, but Rolling Stone reports that Crockett originally wrote, “I’ve been advised that it would jeopardize my freedom to try and enter again.”

Below, check out Crockett’s recent single “Kentucky Too Long” and his Age Of The Ram trailer, as well as the album’s tracklist.
